Imagine my surprise this morning when I arrived to see this huge butterfly trying to check in at the campsite.
You’ll be please to hear that we were full up so i wasn’t able to help however on closer inspection this is a trick. The butterfly was simply basking on the brand new sliding doors at reception.
We love this time of year at the campsite. The air is filled with the sound of crickets and grasshoppers and the sight of a huge range of butterflies going about their daily business and visiting lots of flowers for nectar. The woodland around the secret campsite is a fantastic resource for us as it provides an incredible diversity of species who drift out into the camping meadows to search for food and heat, including the rather exciting adders and grassnakes that we have on site.
