This morning our guests in the gridshell awoke to the horror of a dead adder on the path leading to the shower block. The poor creature had been decapitated and then had its innards pulled out from its body. It was a gruesome site as you can see from the photos.
We get lots of adders in Sussex and The Secret Campsite has some great areas for this increasingly rare species to flourish. They are sometimes seen here by campers looking under the boards that we put out for them to sunbathe under.
Let me know who you think might have committed the crime. They are pretty vulnerable if they drift off to sleep in the sun

Could it have been a stoat, or (less likely) maybe a weasel, ferret or mink?
