We have teamed up with the brilliant Michael Blencowe from The Sussex Wildlife Trust for an exciting eveing and following morning exploring the local wildlife in and around the Secret Campsite. Michael was recently voted personality of the yera by readers of the dynamic Viva Lewes magazine, which will be featuring a reviwe of our ree Tent in their June edition. For wildlife camping enthusiasts the evening can be accommpanied with  a nights camping at The Secret Campsite where you will be able to drift off to sleep listening to the melodic sounds of the birds insects and animals that we have been searching for on our tour of the local landscape. During the evening The Secret Campsite will only be open to attendees of the event to ensure that everyone staying is part of the wildlife gathering. The event will run from 8:00pm on 1oth July until lunchtime on the 11th although you don’t have to camp to come along.

Evening Event July 10th We’ll start the night at 8pm with a talk about moths and bats – then we’ll fire up the moth traps and go on a late night wander with torches and bat detectors looking for glow-worms, barn owls, nightingales and bats. Then we’ll return to the moth traps and see what’s flying around the lights.

Morning Event July 11th We’ll meet at 9am for breakfast (available for £3 if required). At 9:30 we’ll open all the moth traps and have the opportunity to have a closer look at the moths. We’ll then search for the amazing purple emperor butterfly around the campsite before heading off to look for other butterflies, birds and adders. We’ll then go on a special wildlife walk -a tour of some fantastic nearby woodland led by the woodland owner.

Tickets for the morning and evening events are available from Michael at the following link and booking is required. You can book a camping pitch for the evening by contacting Tim on 01273 401 100 Suggested donation of £3 to Sussex Wildlife Trust, are included in the camping prices.

Hope to see you there and if we catch the Purple Emperor, it will be a very exciting moment, as they are extremely elusive.

The Secret Campsite is 4 miles from Lewes in East Sussex
