Since last October we have been building our new reception and office at the campsite.
It has been a lot of fun from the moment Jason and I designed the building to meet our needs. We wanted a spacious light reception, a workshop where Jason could create new Tree Tents Gridshells and other structure and finally a utility area which the Secret Teapot can call home.
A big part of the buildings brief was to make it wildlife friendly wherever feasible.
We have a sparrow hotel in the eaves on the west face
10 bat boxes tucked under the southern face of the roof.
Not sure what we will do on the east face yet but in the sheltered area
Finally, on the north face we have installed a number of boxes that will provide homes for a range of birds and bats. These include:
A bat box made for me by my youngest daughter
A starling box
A robin box
A Pied wagtail box
A swallow frame
Underneath all of this we have installed a stone gabion wall where lizards and other creatures can sun themselves in the early morning sunshine before heading off for a days hunting around the campsite.
