The Nightingales start singing at The Secret Campsite

Not that it’s always the same date each spring, but, some locals set their watches on 12th of April.

They’ll confidently say that the 12th is the day the Nightingales start calling.

Having flown all the way from sub Saharan Africa across the straits of Gibraltar, where they are often shot at , they arrive on the 12th to set up their territories on the dismantled railway track that runs through the Secret Campsite.

Nightingales are a threatened species according to the RSPB
