The sun was out this morning and i was happily chatting to a camper when who should waft its way into reception to order a coffee from the secret teapot but this massive wasp like creature. The campers left promptly, leaving me to serve it.

On closer inspection i think i had uncovered a wood wasp which has a rather menacing long pointed tail. This isn’t used for stinging but in fact for laying eggs.

We have seen them a few times around the campsite and campers at the secret campsite are always a bit unnerved by them but they are harmless. Sussex has lots of woodland so the habitat is great for them. Apparently they love the sound of music
